What Makes an Outlet Weather-Resistant?

Weather resistant outlets have to be protected on a GFCI circuit while it may also be a GFCI model.  Weather resistant outlets are different from indoor outlets for withstanding the rigors of exposure to the elements.  They are made with UV stabilized materials, corrosion resistant screws and mounting strap thus stand up to the harsh elements of the outdoors. Faith TRWR Outlets meet the requirements of NEC Section 406.8* and UL standards to help ensure safety and protection outdoors.

Weather resistant outlets have available options for tamper resistant and GFCI models to help ensure both personal safety and weather resistance in wet or damp outdoor locations.

Faith Tamper-Resistant GFCI Outlets come with a built-in shutter mechanism inside the receptacle that avoid access to the contacts from most foreign objects, it only allows a two- or three-prong plug to be inserted. Both Tamper-Resistant 15A GFCI receptacles or 20A GFCI receptacles comply with the latest NEC requirements comes from NEC 2017 and NEC 2020 for tamper-resistant outlets in residences and childcare facilities.

WR Ground-Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI) Outlets

National Electrical Code® compliant Weather Resistant GFCI Outlets offer the highest level of ground fault protection for outdoor applications. GFCI outlets are important safety devices that provide protection for people from electrical shocks due to hazardous ground-faults. GFCIs monitor the electrical power that is fed to anything plugged into the outlet. If a ground-fault is detected, it “turn off” power to the item in a fraction of a second, to help prevent serious injury or death.

When it comes to outdoor electrical safety of GFCI receptacles or AFCI GFCI outlet & receptacle Combo, Faith Electric has the optional covers. In addition to residential Weather-Resistant Outlets and protective covers, we offer a variety of hospital spec grade and commercial WR outlets and weatherproof covers for all applications.
